TPL Newsletter - April 2013

Cynthia @ Steinway

Thanks for all your positive energy, endorsements and encouragement for That Piano Lady Music Studio. We appreciate all your feedback and comments; Yelping, Tweeting, LinkedInning and Facebooking at www.thatpianolady.com

Hello and Happy April, 2013!

Just in time for the Spring/Summer Season, we have put our hat in the ring and produced a couple of videos. Our first entree was a very stylized and gorgeously lit performance by Pianist Cynthia Lee Neal at The Cabral Center for the Arts. With the award winning DP, Don Platon, at the helm, Sound Engineer - Laurence Hussar, Executive Producer - Lisa Marks and our generous Patroness - Louise Cabral (Author), we all came together and let the creative energy carry us. Not too bad! We have posted the W I P and are in the stages of the final edit...stay tuned. For our second foray, we raised the bar and went full-bore-guerilla-style-production at Steinway & Sons in West Hollywood, CA ; a combination music video, concert promotion and documentary. Look for it soon featuring music by Gershwin and Tauriello. David Ida of Steinway & Sons has a little cameo appearance and our resident eye-candy, Craig Petraglia, gives an on-screen kiss. Oh yah!

We are going into the studio soon to lay down all the tracks for our new CD, "Just Desserts". (All the recordings we use now are live and uncut. We like living on the edge!) We have some great t-shirts on the website that feature the CD cover created by Lisa Marks. Check her out @ www.creatingmarks.com to see what an incredible Marketing Strategist she is!

Our musical education division at That Piano Lady Music Studio is still soldiering forward. We wish we could "Teach The World To Sing" and play the piano...believe me, we would! Nothing like sharing the gifts we have been given and see another's inner-child-pianist come to life! Thanks to a very generous contribution from the Music Lady Lyn Music Studio (Lyn Neal - Owner), we kept the lights on and the piano humidifier humming at our new location. Mom to the rescue!

Our next live solo-piano performance to benefit the studio's piano education division will be on June 23, 2013 at Steinway & Sons in West Hollywood, CA. Going to be a fun program with a couple of surprises. Quite a posh area for a before or after performance nosh/repast! We are offering a discount of $5 off the $15 dollar ticket price if you are able to purchase the tickets in advance. Just go to www.thatpianolady.com for more info. and to make your reservation. (Seating is limited). While you are there, peruse the website, listen to some recent sound bites and see if there are any services or products that peek your interest. Let us know you are one of the newsletter peeps and we will give you a 25% discount on said products and services...including lessons!

Local bookings and gigs happen all the time. Stay tuned to our Calendar of Events page at www.thatpianolady.com and let us know if you are in the area or planning on attending one of our performances. We love meeting collegues, friends and fans in person and you never know when a jammin' can happin'!

BTW - shameless plug for my on-line mentor, Ed Mascari. He is a fantastic teacher and musician. He sends me great repertoire ideas and chord progressions for my standards/jazz/improv. stuff by email.....and they really work! You can hear one of his suggested medleys and the inherent modulations at the performance in June.

Have a great month...blessings to all, Om Shanti, Shalom, Salem Alechem!

AND.....

Have another musical day in Paradise!

TPL Newsletter - March 2013

Happy March!

I am so grateful for your being in my life.

This is the first of a monthly "newsletter type thing" from the studio! We update on a daily basis, so please visit: www.thatpianolady.com to see all the exciting things we have available. You will also hear various sound bites from recitals and other recording sessions. And...maybe an anonymous picture or video of you!
Currently, I am preparing for a solo performance at Steinway Hall in Beverly Hills, CA; June 23, 2013, 3:00pm - 5:00pm. The tickets are a mere $10 and will be used to benefit the musical instruction division of That Piano Lady Music Studio. Hoping to really share the experience of hearing the fantastic musical capabalities of a gorgeous Steinway NY 'D', recently retired from Disney Hall. So many greats performed on the piano: I am honoured to play this instrument (David Ida at Steinway & Sons in BH will take great care of you if you ever want to purchase a Steinway. Tell him I sent you! )

My production team, led by DP Don Platon and Executive Producer Lisa Marks of www.creatingmarks.com , is prepping for our next shoot; a video featuring a performance of a Gershwin number with a "Broadway Opening" feel...very exciting. We are recording the sound track at Steinway Hall in two short weeks. Lawrence Hussar, our sound/playback engineer has an uncanny (no pun intended) ability to bring out the best in my recordings with the most unobtrusive devices ever! (At your convenience, I would so appreciate your viewing of my latest video http://www.thatpianolady.com/Vimeo.html )

Lately, I have returned to playing at the Shabbat Morning Minyan @ Stephen S. Wise Temple in Los Angeles, CA. My friend, Dennis Prager, speaks there on a regular basis and we have a great time "jammin" with songs from the complete Shirenu. Dennis plays a mean squeeze box and it is great celebrating with people in our community. I have been playing around there for about 15 years and it still makes for a Shavua Tov! He recently interviewed me for a "meet our pianist" bit before our zmirot! Scandalous!

Lastly, I am getting ready to go into the studio and lay down the tracks for my new CD, "Just Desserts". Lisa Marks, my marketing guru, created a really fun cover for it...me in whipped cream! Ha! Who said being a Pianist has to be blah and normal? Not me!

Thanks for your dedication, support and encouragement. Lets all have "Another Musical Day in Paradise!"

Best,
Cynthia Lee Neal
